Class Descriptions

Below are the descriptions of the particular classes listed above, i.e. the ones that are being offered at this time. For a complete list of all possible classes that we can offer, click here.

Advanced Trick Dog

Blue Ring - For dogs and handlers who have achieved their Intermediate Tricks title. Each handler should have 4 specific tricks to work on, to be determined in advance. We will also continue build a large trick vocabulary, working towards Advanced and Expert DMWYD titles.

Agility 101A Equipment

Blue Ring - Time to get busy with Equipment! Introduction to Table, Tire, Teeter, Dogwalk, Frame, Jumps (Backside/Switch/Tight), Weave Guides, Angled Tunnels. Handling Concepts: Timing, Showing Path, Finish Cues, Start Lines, Lead Out and Release, Parallel Path, Sequencing.
Pre-requisite: Foundation B

Agility 101B Positions

Main Ring - More familiarization with Table, Tire, Tunnel, Jumps, Weaves, Teeter, Dogwalk, Frame. Handling Concepts: Lateral Distance, Post Turns, Front Crosses, Blind Crosses. Introduction to Snooker. Pre-requisite: Agility 101A

Agility 101C Crosses

Main Ring - Continuing to work on equipment skills while fine tuning basic crosses: Handling Concepts: Back Cross on Tunnel, Counter Rotation, Deceleration, Discriminations, Pull to backside, Measuring Dogs, 4' - 8' Tunnel/Jump Gamble.
Pre-requisite: Agility 101B

Agility 101C Crosses-Day Class

Main Ring - Continuing to work on equipment skills while fine tuning basic crosses: Handling Concepts: Back Cross on Tunnel, Counter Rotation, Deceleration, Discriminations, Pull to backside, Measuring Dogs, 4' - 8' Tunnel/Jump Gamble. Pre-requisite: Agility 101B

Beginner-Novice Barn Hunt

The Barn - Dogs have fun learning to find the heavy duty gerbil tubes among a maze of straw bales, navigate a bale tunnel, and climb onto the stack. Handlers start to learn how to read the dog's indications, and are introduced to the basic rules and the game of Barn Hunt (Gerbils are safe at all times!)

Contacts and Weaves

Main Ring - Improve your dogs performance on these challenging obstacles! Includes proofing, criteria, speed, distance, entrances, confidence and independence on Weaves, Teeter, Dogwalk, and A-Frame.
Pre-requisite: Intermediate Agility

Flyball - Beginner

Blue Ring - Flyball is a sport that pits teams of 4 racing dogs against other teams and the clock. This class will introduce your dog to some of the Foundation skills needed to be successful. Concepts include secondary motivators, turning on the box, offset jumps, and passing.
Pre-requisite: Foundation A or equivalent and NON aggressive dogs.

Foundation B Impulse / Awareness

Blue Ring - Moving on to Foundation Skills more specific to Agility. Introduction to Contact Positions and Planks, Tippy Boards, Weave Poles, Hoops, Jumps (Tight), and more work with Tunnels, Targeting and Cones.
Pre-requisite: Foundation A or equivalent

Intermediate A Crossing and Position

Main Ring - Raising Heights. Handling Concepts: Lead Changes, Backcross on a Jump (switch), Peek a Boo, Opposite End Tunnel, Push-Pull Handling, Rotation to Show Path, Go On, 8' - 12' Tunnel/Jump Gamble. Introduction to Course Analysis, Walking a Course, Ring Etiquette.
Pre-requisite: Agility 101C

Intermediate-Advanced Barn Hunt

The Barn - Taking Barn Hunt to the next level! More tubes, more challenging locations, and more fun! The dogs will have fun with different search games, including advanced Tunnel setups and Distance challenges. Handlers will also be introduced to course building and trialing information. Pre-requisite: Novice Barn Hunt Class or equivalent.

Jumps and Tunnels A

Main Ring - This class is designed for those who would like to work on sequencing and flow using only jumps and tunnels. Learn more advanced crosses, fine tune your handling, all while not compromising your dog's developing skills on contacts, weaves and other more advanced equipment. For dogs at an Intermediate or higher level.

Jumps and Tunnels B

Main Ring - NEXT LEVEL Jumps and Tunnels, This is for teams who are working on specific issues either with their teamwork or skills. This is a more advanced version of Jumps and tunnels A. Handlers must be competent with all crosses.

Novice - Intermediate Trick Dog TITLING

Blue Ring - Trick training can be a building block for more advanced work, helping form a strong and mutually enjoyable working relationship between handler and dog, focus, flexibility and more. During this class you will learn from a Certified Trick Dog Trainer numerous tricks from the slate of offerings in the "Novice Trick Dog" and/or "Intermediate Trick Dog" level from "Do More with Your Dog" program.
On the last week there will be an optional titling session (for an additional fee to be sent to the "Do More with Your Dog" Association.)
Pre-requisite: Foundation A or equivalent. Non aggressive dog only.

Obed-Agility Foundation A

Blue Ring - Getting started with the basics of your relationship: Walking on a Loose Leash, Sits/Downs and other positions, Drive and Impulse Control, Heel, Finish, Stay, Recall, Etiquette when meeting people, Trick Training and more. Also introduction to Cones, Target Plates, Tunnels, Ladder work.
Pre-requisite: Non aggressive dogs at least 3 months old.

Regional Prep

Main Ring - For those handlers who want to take their skills to the next level. Regional level sequences and courses, rules and qualifying information will be covered in this class. Pre-requisite: Competing at a Regional/Masters/Excellent level.

Skills and Drills A

Blue Ring - Handers will learn the technique and handling skills required for running a smooth agility course. This class is ideally suited to those competing in Starters or Novice level trials and to those who are new handlers starting to compete in the sport of dog agility. Pre-requisite Agility 101C

Skills and Drills B

Main Ring - For teams that have a good understanding of the skills learned in Skills and Drills A, and would now like to test and refine those skills in a more challenging environment.
